Luggage

The item allowed without by charge by VivaColombia is a single piece of maximum 6kg and 40x35x25 cm, except for the Bogota-Quito-Bogota route, which is a 9kg piece and with the same measures. Exceeding these measures will have an extra cost. We recommend you to buy additional services in advance through www.vivacolombia.co. Prices are per leg and passenger.

Luggage on board

With this additional service, you can bring a piece of 12 kg and 55x45x25 cm in the aircraft cabin; in addition, you can have the following advantages:

  • You will get the priority boarding with group 1 for free.
  • You will avoid checking-in your luggage and will be able to go straight to the boarding lounge.
  • You will bring your luggage with you in the cabin.
  • You will have the right to also bring your personal item.
  • When arriving at your destination, you will not have to recover your luggage in the baggage recovery room.

Checked Luggage

This additional service allows you to bring a bag of 20 kg and 158 linear cm, which correspond to the bag total length + width + height.  Luggage will be carried in the aircraft hold and must be checked at the counter of VivaColombia at the airport.

The counter of VivaColombia will be available for you to check-in from 2 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight, and will close 45 minutes before the scheduled departure thereof for domestic flights.  For international flights, it will be available from 3 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight, and will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure thereof.

In case that the luggage exceeds these dimensions or weight, the passenger should pay the corresponding amounts to carry it as luggage on board or checked luggage according to the weight and dimensions, plus the product change fees

Musical instruments and sports equipment

The following services are offered by VivaColombia as an additional service.

Musical Instrument as the Personal Item: Musical instruments not exceeding 40x35x25 cm and 6 kg may be carried in the aircraft cabin as the personal item piece to which you are entitled with your reservation.  It must be placed under the seat in front of yours.

Musical Instrument as luggage on board: Instruments with a package not exceeding 55x45x25 cm and 12 kg may be carried in the upper compartments of the aircraft cabin by purchasing the luggage on board service.  Remember that these instruments must be carried in soft cases, and with this service, you will get the priority boarding with group 1.

Musical Instrument occupying a seat: If your instrument dimensions are 136x47x25 cm and weighs no more than 75 kg, it may go in the cabin by purchasing an additional seat.  If you decide to purchase this service, you should take into account that the passenger is the one in charge of carrying and locating the instrument on the aircraft and placing it in a window seat and never by emergency exits.

Musical Instrument in the aircraft hold: If the instrument you want to bring fails to meet the above requirements, do not worry, you may carry it in the aircraft hold by purchasing this service.  To transport the instrument in the hold, weight shall not exceed 32 kg nor shall dimensions exceed 319 linear cm, which correspond to the total luggage length + width + height. Musical instruments in the aircraft hold should be well protected in a hard case and the passenger must sign the limited liability receipt placed in the back of the bag tag, indicating that VC will not be liable for the state of the musical instrument in the aircraft hold, for being unconventional luggage.

Sports equipment Aircraft hold: If you are traveling to win a sports competition, we offer you this service so that you will carry your sports equipment in the most convenient way.  This luggage shall go in the aircraft hold and should not exceed 32 kg in weight nor 319 linear cm (corresponding to the total equipment length + width + height.). The sporting equipment may not exceed 32 kg in weight and 319 linear cm.

By purchasing this additional service, you should take into account that the items considered sports items by VivaColombia are: golf, fishing and diving equipment, non-motorized bicycles with a single seat, bowling, skiing, archery, camping, hockey or lacrosse, kitesurfing or kiteboarding equipment, rackets (2), roars (2), parachutes, pool cues, surfing, windsurfing equipment (max. 300 cm long.) Sporting equipment as checked luggage should be well protected in a hard case and the passenger must sign the limited liability receipt placed in the back of the bag tag, indicating that VC will not be liable for the state of the musical instrument in the aircraft hold, for being unconventional luggage.

Prohibited Items

Many common, everyday items at home or work may seem harmless; however, when transported by air, they may be very dangerous.  In flight, variations in temperature and pressure can cause leakage in items, generating toxic fumes or even catching fire.

Many of the items mentioned above are classified as "dangerous goods" by the Government of the United States and are not allowed in the luggage.  Unauthorized transportation of dangerous goods may lead to criminal or civil penalties.

 Regulations for Liquids, Gels and Aerosols

Only liquids, gels and/or aerosols packed in a clear resealable plastic bag (size 1 quart/liter) which may contain liquids, gels and/or aerosols with a maximum capacity of 3 oz (100ml) per container (maximum of 1000 ml in your luggage on board). The bag must be completely closed/sealed and containers should perfectly fit within the bag.  The bag should be prepared for a separate inspection in the security check-point.

The following items may be carried by the passenger, but must be declared at the checkpoint if not packed in a resealable plastic bag (1 quart/liter) and/or if containing more than 3 oz (100ml:)

- Containers with infant milk (including breast milk) or food for infants, if the passenger is traveling with an infant or toddler.

- Medications (liquids, gels and/or aerosols.)

- Liquids (including juice) or gels for diabetics or any other medical needs.

- Other liquids, gels and/or aerosols may be carried in the checked luggage.

- Liquids (including beverages,) gels and aerosols that were purchased in the secure area may be brought on board.

Lithium Batteries

For safety reasons, passengers should not pack loose lithium batteries in checked luggage.  Lithium batteries for devices such as personal computers, cell phones and cameras must be packed in their carry-on luggage.  Anyway, passengers may register their luggage containing batteries only if such batteries are installed in electronic devices.

NOTE: New luggage schemes may be added at the time of making a reservation or up to 4 hours before the departure time of the flight; change fees may apply.

Allowed and prohibited items.

You are allowed to bring a quart-size bag liquids, aerosols, gel, creams and pastes in your carry-on baf an through the checkpoint. These are limited to 100 milliliters or less per item. Placing these item in the small bag separate from your carry-on baggage facilitates the screening process. Pac item larger than 100 milliliters in checked baggage. he actual maximum volume you carry will equate to less than 100ml.
