Traveling with children

The airline does not carry unaccompanied children or children entrusted to the airline for safe keeping.

Infants (between 10 days and 24 months), will not occupy a seat.
Children (minors between 24 months plus one (1) day and 12 years)
Adolescents (minors aged between 12 years plus 1 day and 17 years)
Adults: over 18 years of age.

Minors Policy on domestic flights

Minors between 10 days and 12 years of age, must travel accompanied by a person over 16 years. Traveling with an adult different than their parents or legal tutor, must submit a permission signed by at least one of the parents or legal tutor specifying the route(s) to be flown by the minor, the flight date and the responsible person. A copy of the ID of the adult signing the permission will be required.

Adolescents (minors between 12 years of age plus one (1) day and 17 years of age are allowed to travel alone by presenting their document of identification.

It is necessary to present the document of identification. Minors under 7 must present the document of identification issued by the National civil Registry. Copies are not accepted as document of identification.
 

Minors Policy on International Flights

VivaColombia does NOT provide the service to minors entrusted to the airline for safe keeping and does NOT allow minors between 0 and 14 years of age to travel alone on international flights.

If a minor is traveling with both parents, the following must be submitted:

  • Valid passport or any document required by the destination country according to nationality for both, minor and parents.
  • Birth certificate of the minor. Copies are not accepted as document of identification.

If a minor is traveling with only one parent, with no parents or with an adult other than the parents or the legal representative/guardian, the following must be submitted:

  • Valid passport or any document required by the destination country according to nationality for both, minor and parent, adult or legal representative.
  • Birth certificate of the minor.
  • Permit to leave the country duly authenticated before a notary public, consular authority or any other authority, duly certified by apostille or legalized, where appropriate, executed by the parent not accompanying the minor.  Minor permits to leave the country must have departure and return date, name of the person traveling with the minor, place where he/she is going and purpose of the trip.

If the minor travels with the legal representative or guardian, the following must be submitted:

  • Valid passport or any document required by the destination country according to nationality for both, minor and legal representative or guardian.
  • Birth Certificate and statement by which the legal representation is established, or Birth Certificate with the record of the legal representation of the minor.
