1. Buy your VivaColombia tickets 

1. How can I buy VivaColombia tickets through the web page?

Purchasing through our web page is very easy:

  • In the tool "book" enter the route and date you wish.  Click on Continue.
  • Select the flight you desire
  • Enter the passengers data.  Check all information before continuing; remember that if there is an error in the information provided, renaming or changing the identity card after paying your booking will have an additional cost.
  • Check the additional services section and choose what you need.
  • Enter the contact person data.  This information will be used if VivaColombia has to communicate information related to the flight.
  • Select your method of payment and enter the data.

2. What payment options are offered in the web page to pay for VivaColombia ticket?

VivaColombia has 4 payment options for your convenience. We hope they will make the process of purchasing your tickets easier.  With respect to electronic payments, we accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards.  Also, you can pay for your tickets with your debit card through PSE payments. 

If you wish to pay in cash, we offer you the option of payment in the Vía Baloto sales points or in Exito, Carulla y Surtimax payment points (this payment options apply only to purchases made in Colombia.)

3. Besides the page, where else can I purchase?

You can purchase through the call center, a travel agency or directly at the airport.

4. What should I do if I do not have my reservation code?

After making a payment, you will receive a booking confirmation via email.  If you fail to receive it, please contact us through the call center or cuentanos@vivacolombia.co.  You must send us the proof of payment or transaction number (consisting of 9 digits,) if you do not have it, you can get it in the following link: http://bit.ly/OUvwh5, or if the payment was made in Baloto o Exito, Carulla y Surtimax, you must send us the proof of payment given to you.  Please note that by paying using this last options, it may take your reservation between 24 and 36 hours to reach you.

5. After having purchased, can I add additional services?

Of course you can!  in fact, doing so in advance is ideal.  Please note that additional services purchased at the airport cost more than through the page.  From the time you buy a reservation until 4 hours before the scheduled time of your flight, you can add additional services through our web page, Adittional Services, Add Additional Services option.

6. If I fail to pay for the reservation or if the transaction is rejected, what should I do?

If your transaction is rejected or if you fail to pay within the term mentioned, VivaColombia automatically will cancel your reservation and you should create a new reservation subject to the prices available in the web page. 

7. What should I do if the system indicates that there is already a reservation which is equal to it?

If the system does not let you create a reservation, because there is already a reservation which is equal to it, you should modify the name, i.e. if the first reservation has your given name, surname, and maiden name, use only your given name and surname in the new one.

8. Can I make connections with VivaColombia?

No, VivaColombia is an airline operating from one point to another point.  We do not allow connections; for which reason, we do not take any liability for tickets purchased to make a connection.

9. What hours does VivaColombia operate?

VivaColombia operates in military time or 24 hours.  This means that if your flight is at 05:00, it is in the morning; if it reads, 17:00, it is in the afternoon.

2. Changes

1. What kind of changes can I make to my reservation?

Change of name/identity card: For round trip reservations, changes can be made only before starting the first journey, paying the corresponding penalty. Click to change your name or route.

Chnge of date/time date and time changes may apply within the itineraries we have available on our web page and paying the corresponding penalty. Click to change your flight, date or time click.

2. How can I make changes to my reservation?

You can make changes through our page in the "Changes" option, paying the corresponding penalty for the change + the fare difference (i.e. the price difference between the ticket originally purchased and the current ticket price.)  These costs apply per journey and per passenger. Click  if you want to make any change in your booking. 

Please note that:

  • The option to make changes to your tickets is available up to 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight.
  •  Changes should be made before the web check-in.
  • When a change is made, it applies to all passengers under the same reservation.  If you want such change to apply to only one passenger, a reservation split may be requested through our call center or cuentanos@vivacolombia.co
  • Failure to make a change within the term mentioned above will cause the ticket to lose validity and may not be used at a later time and the money will not be refunded.

3. What if I misspell the name, just one letter?

If you make a mistake of one or two letters, we may help you with the change without a penalty through our call center, cuentanos@vivacolombia.co or at the airports wherein VivaColombia operates.  For this, it is necessary that you send or submit the identity card of the passenger with the error.

4. What if after paying for a change, I do not see it in my reservation?

If you do not see the change in the reservation, you can write at cuentanos@vivacolombia.co sending the proof of payment for the change.

3. Web check-in

1. How do I make web check-in?

To make web check-in, you must go to the web page, to the section "Your booking>Web Check-in" and choose the option "Get your Boarding Pass" between 72 and 4 hours before the scheduled time of your flight. 

2. After making the web check-in, am I entitled to any changes?

Remember that if you already made a web check-in,  you cannot apply changes.  

3. After making the web check-in, can I add additional services?

You can not add additional services after web check-in through the web page. You must go to the airport and buy the additional services at VivaColombia's counter. 

4. What should I do if when trying to make a web check-in, there is no passing board available?

Options that may solve your problem:

• First, you need to check that the time left for the scheduled departure of the flight is no more than 72 hours, and less than 4 hours.

• Verify that the box "accept terms and conditions" has been checked.

• Try using another browser.

If none of the above options works, you may contact our call center or send us a screen shot with the error message you are receiving to cuentanos@vivacolombia.co as soon as possible, so that we can check your case and offer you a solution.

5. What if I don't have time enough to make the web check-in?

If the time left for the scheduled departure of your flight is longer than 4 hours, we invite you to buy the service check-in at the airport through our web page; this way, you will save money.  If the time left for the scheduled departure of your flight is less than 4 hours, you must pay for this service at the airport and must present at the counter of VivaColombia at least 45 minutes befrore the shceduled departure for domestic flights adn 60 for international flights.

4. Luggage

1. What is a personal item?

The personal item consists of one (1) piece to which you are entitled to by purchasing your ticket.  Weight and dimensions allowed are 6 kg and 40x35x25 cm*.  This piece should be kept under the seat in front of yours when getting on the aircraft.  If this piece fails to meet the above mentioned dimensions and weight, you must pay the extra cost for carrying your baggage as luggage on board or as checked luggage.  Remember that the women's purse and the computer bag are considered as the personal item piece allowed.

If you are travelling from/to Ecuador, your personal item shall not exceed 9 kg and 40x35x25 cm.

2. What is luggage on board?

Thinking about your comfort, we have created a service that allows you to bring more carry-on bagagge with you in the aircraft cabin compartments.  The luggage on board is one piece of 55x45x25 cm and can weigh up to 12 kg.  This item has an additional cost.  The advantages of this baggage are:

• You get the boarding priority with group 1 for free. Except if you are traveling from Miami that you will have Boarding Group 2. 

• You avoid the luggage check-in process and can go directly to the boarding lounge (just for domestic flights, if you are travelling international you have to present your documents at the VivaColombia counter)

• You bring the suitcase with you in the cabin.

• You are also entitled to take your personal item.

• Please note that if this item fails to meet the dimensions or weight allowed, you will have to pay for carrying it as checked lugagge. Click to add additional luggage.

3. What is checked luggage?

We have created an additional service calles checked  luggage, so that you can travel with everything you may need, since by purchasing this service, you may take up to 20 kg in one suitcase of 158 linear cm, which correspond to the sum of the length, width and height of the suitcase.  This luggage goes in the hold of the aircraft and should be checked at the counter of the airport. Click to add additional luggage.

4. What if my luggage exceeds weight or any of the measures indicated?

You must pay for the type of luggage that fits your piece.  VivaColombia recommends the luggage be measure and weigh before going to the airport and 4 hours prior to the scheduled departure of your flight, so that you can verify whether it meets the size and weight allowed; if not, you will be able to buy, through the web page, the additional luggage you may need.  Remember that the price of the services changes depending on whether you buy it through the web page, the counter or the boarding lounge.

5. Can I bring excess luggage in VivaColombia?

If your checked luggage exceeds 20 kg, you can bring up to 12 kg more by paying an additional price per each extra kilogram.  The luggage will be subject to the restrictions of the flight; therefore, the airline does not guarantee the availability to carry it.  If the personal item or the luggage on board exceeds the weight, you must pay for the luggage service that fits the weight and dimensions that you are bringing. 6. Are infants entitled to carry any luggage?

If you are traveling with a child under the age of 24 months, you are entitled to travel with a diaper bag of 6 kg and not exceeding 40x35x25 cm (besides the personal item of the adult responsible for the infant.)  Additionally, you can carry a stroller in the hold of the aircraft at no extra charge.

7. What is the Fast Line service?

If you are traveling with checked luggage, we have created a special service for you, which allows you to make the luggage check-in process using a special line that is fast and efficient.  You can get it through the web page, the call center or directly at the counter on the day of your flight.

8. Which items are consideres hazarous?

• Blunt objects: Objects that because of their weight, size or material may put in danger the integrity of the flight or the passengers.

• Sharp elements: Objects having any type of cutting edge or incision on any of their sides which could penetrate or be inserted into something or someone (scissors, knives, pliers.)  These objects cannot be brought as carry-on luggage.

• Objects not allowed in the carry-on luggage or the checked luggage: weapons, acids, poisons, infectious substances, bleach, flammable liquids or gases, explosives, aerosols, pepper spray, matches or lighters.

9. Can I travel with musical instruments?

In VivaColombia, we think about everybody; therefore, we offer different options for you, a passionate about the music, so that you can carry your musical instrument to your destination:

Instrument on board: This service is only available for national flights. VivaColombia does not carry musical instruments as luggage on board for international flights. Instruments with packages not exceeding 55x40x25 cm and 12 kg may be carried paying for the additional service and shall be carried in the upper chambers of the aircraft cabin.  These instruments should be in soft cases and the passengers paying for this service shall have priority boarding in group 1.

If the instrument fails to meet the above measures, we offer the following carriage options:

Musical instrument occupying an additional seat: This service is only available for national flights. If your instrument dimensions are 136x47x25 cm and does not exceed 75 kg in weight, such instrument may be carried in the cabin purchasing an additional seat.  If you decide to purchase this service, please take into account that the passenger is liable for loading and placing the instrument into the aircraft, on a window seat and never by emergency exits.

Musical instrument in the aircraft hold: If the instrument you wish to transport fails to meet the above measures, no problem, it may be carried in the aircraft hold purchasing this service.  For transporting the instrument in the hold, measures may not exceed 32 kg and 319 linear cm, which correspond to the sum of the length, width and height of the luggage.

10. Can I travel with sports items?

VivaColombia allows special sports equipment checked on all their flights; remember that this equipment may not exceed 32 kg in weight and 319 linear cm.  Furthermore, transporting sports items is subject to the room availability; therefore, it is recommended that you notify VivaColombia in advance.

When purchasing this additional service, you should take into account that the items considered as sports items by VivaColombia are: golf equipment, fishing equipment, diving equipment, non-motorized single-seat bicycles, bowling equipment, ski equipment, archery equipment, camping gear, equipment for hockey or lacrosse, kite-surfing or kite-boarding equipment, rackets (2), paddles (2), parachutes, pool cues, surfing equipment, windsurfing equipment (maximum 300 cm long.)

11. Can I carry perishable foods?

No, transportation of perishable or frozen foods is not allowed by VivaColombia.

12. What if my checked luggage is damaged? How long do I have to file a claim?

Claims for the delay, loss, damage, breakdown or looting of Checked Luggage should be filed when the checked luggage is delivered or, at the latest, within the next seven days.  Such claims shall be filed directly at the airport filling out a Luggage Irregularities Form.

5. Cancellations and refunds

1. What if I can not travel?

If for some reason, you cannot travel and the time left for the departure of your flight is longer than 4 hours, you should make the change to your VivaColombia ticket through our web page.  Remember that to make changes, the web check-in process should not have been made. If the change is not made, please keep in mind that, for being promotional fares, the ticket will not be refundable for any reason whatsoever and that the ticket validity expires on the scheduled date and time; i.e. the ticket may not be used later if the change is not made. Click to make ant change in your booking. 

2. Can I cancel my flight and receive a full refund?

VivaColombia tickets are promotional tickets; for this reason, they are not refundable.  If you cannot travel, you can apply for the respective change through "Manage your booking" section.

3. When does VivaColombia refund the money?

VivaColombia studies any refund request if related to:

  • Delays/Cancellations: This type of refund applies when the reservation is affected for any reasons caused by our airline, either by: cancellation, rescheduling, security reasons, multiple debits or extra amounts charged.  This refund may be in whole or in part.
  • Retractation Act: Retracting from the purchase should be exercised through any service channel of the seller, within the forty eight (48) hours following the purchase operation.  Retraction may only be exercised at least 8 calendar days or more before, between the moment of the timely exercise thereof and the date provided to start the service for domestic flights.  For international flights, the term shall be equal or longer than 15 calendar days.
  • Withdrawal Act: The passenger may desist from his/her trip up to 24 hours before the start thereof, as long as the contract of carriage will originate in Colombia.  The carrier may withhold up to a 10% of the fare, excluding rates, taxes and administrative fees.  The above shall not apply in case of promotional fares. For flights from/to the United States the passenger may desist from his/her trip in the first 24 hours of the purchase. 
  • Illness/Decease: in case of death of the title holder of the ticket, his/her companion (as long as they have the same itinerary) or relatives (grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren, siblings, spouse) are entitled to request refund.  Such request should be filed within the 30 working days following the scheduled date of the flight. Claim must be made by the title holder of the ticket or an immediate relative.  VivaColombia may apply penalties to a refund for decease reasons. 4. What should I do if VivaColombia cancels or reschedules my flight?

If your flight is canceled or rescheduled for operational reasons, we offer the following options:

  • A change of date, for a day before or after.
  • Rerouting, provided that there is flight availability at the same price of the original ticket.
  • Refund.

5. Can I leave my VivaColombia ticket open for later use?

The validity of the VivaColombia tickets is up to the date and time of the scheduled departure of the flight.  For this reason, we recommend that the change be made up to 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight if you cannot travel.  If the change is not made and you do not travel, the ticket may not be used at a later date and the money will not be refunded for any reason.

6. What if I miss my flight?

If you don’t show up at the airport at the correct times and you miss your flight, the ticket will lose its validity and you will have to buy another one. Email us to give you a partial refund (we will not refund the base fare).

6. Special offers

1. How can I have access to the special offers?

If you are interested in one of our special offers, before purchasing, you must be clear on the conditions of the special offer, such as: dates when you can buy the available dates to travel.  We invite you to use the tool "see prices of the month" that shows each of the days of the month and the price.  Search for the month in which the special offer applies and be guided by the days having the price mentioned for the piece of the special offer so that you will find the best price for your VivaColombia tickets.

2. Why can´t I sometimes find the prices of the special offers?

Each special offer has some terms and conditions established and there are many people logging in looking for cheaper VivaColombia tickets every day.  In addition, you should take into account that special offers have conditions such as: dates and number of seats available. 7. Minors

Remember that in VivaColombia, minors are classified as follows:

• Infants: babies from 10 days of age to before 2 years of age.

• Children: minors between 2 years 1 day of age and 12 years of age.

• Adolescents: minors between 12 years 1 day of age and 18 years of age.

1. Are there different rates for minors?

Infants under two (2) years of age will not occupy a seat. For domestic flights, infants will pay no Fare, except for flights from Bogotá, where they will only pay fees and taxes that may apply.For international flights, infants (under two (2) years) will pay 10% of an adult fare and fees and taxes that may apply.

Children older than two (2) years of age must occupy a seat and therefore pay the full Fare and taxes, except when flying to/from Ecuador and the United States. When Flying to/from Ecuador, children must pay 67% of an adult fare and fees and taxes that may apply. When flying to/from the United States, children must pay 75% of an adult fare and fees and taxes that may apply. 

2. Can a minor travel alone?

For permit specifications, we invite you to click for domestic flights and here for international flights.

3. What if I fail to submit the documents for traveling with a minor?

If the documents are not submitted, our airline may not transport the minor and the ticket will not be refunded under any circumstances; therefore, you must have in mind that the permit must have all the necessary information.

4. Where can I issue a notarized permit?

This permit can be issued by a notary, so as to certificate the authenticity of such document.

5. Does VivaColombia has the escort service for minors?

No, VivaColombia does not have the escort service for minors.

6. Can an adult travel with 2 or more babies?

For safety reasons, only one baby per adult may travel in the aircraft cabin.

8. Pregnant women

1. Up to what week of gestation can a pregnant woman fly?

  • All pregnant women may travel submitting an original medical permit. The medical clearance must indicate route, duration of the flight and be issued 10 days before the flight.  In addition, the exemption transportation form for pregnant women must be completed, except 
  • All pregnant women must show up at the counter of VivaColombia at least one hour before the flight to submit the medical permit (no matter how many weeks pregnant) and the transportation form for pregnant women.
  • From week 30 of pregnancy, VivaColombia reserves the right to DENY transportation to pregnant woman.  This policy applies both for domestic flights and international flights.In case the passenger is not admitted, VivaColombia will refund the ticket of the pregnant women. 9. Passengers with special needs

1. Can I travel if I have reduced mobility?

Yes, VivaColombia allows transportation of people with reduced mobility. Click to know more about passangers with special needs.

2. Does the airline have the wheelchair service?

Yes, for the passenger convenience, we have this service to take him/her to the boarding lounge and then to the aircraft door.  In order to have the service ready when you arrive to the aiport, we appreciate if you notify us at least 24 hour before through our call center or indicate that you require this service when purchasing the tickets. 3. Should I assume an extra charge for the wheelchair transportation?

VivaColombia allows transportation of one wheelchair per passenger at no additional charge.  The passenger shall be taken to the aircraft door where he/she will receive appropriate assistance, and later his/her wheelchair will be checked-in.  Remember that the wheelchair may be transported as long as it meets the measure requirements (90 cm wide; 90 cm long, 90 cm high and weight may not exceed 50 kg) to protect it from damages caused by luggage movements.

4. Can I brind a guide dog into the cabin?

VivaColombia allows a Service dog to travel in the cabin, as long as required by the passenger according to his/her condition. It is very important that you let us know in advance. Remember that the guide dog must have all health and safety documentation for such purposes.  This service only applies for domestic flights in Colombia and flights to/from the United States.  

5. Can I travel if I have any infectious disease or a disease with the risk of contagion?

For safety and health purposes, VivaColombia does not recommend traveling if you have any infectious disease or high risk of contagion which may threaten the physical integrity of the passenger itself and the other people traveling.  Likewise, a medical certificate, must be submitted.  Such certificate shall indicate the physician professional registration, as well as the health conditions of the Passenger. 6. Can I travel if I have recently had surgery?

Remember that any passenger who has undergone surgery may only travel with VivaColombia 10 days after the surgery.  However, you can check the specifications for these cases by clicking.

10. Pets

1. Can I travel with my pet?

VivaColombia allows you to travel with a pet (dog or cat) in the cabin of the aircraft in domestic flights.  To travel with your pet, you should buy the additional pet service, which may weigh up to 10 kg (pet + crate) and meet the dimensions 40x3x25 cm.  The crate wherein the pet will be carried should be made of fabric. Remember that only one pet is accepted per passenger and maximum two pets are allowed per flight.

For international flights, we do not offer the pet service, except to United Satates and if it´s a service dog.

11. Travel documentation

1. What documents are needed to travel within Colombia?

Adults must provide the citizenship card, minors, the identity card, and children under 7 years old may provide the birth certificate. Foreigners may travel with their alien I.D. card or passport.

2. What documents are needed to travel abroad?

A passenger shall be liable for verifying the information contained in the documents required for traveling.  In the event of missing a flight for failing to submit the documents required by the immigration authorities, VivaColombia shall not be held liable for any missed flight and any results from this situation.

3. What should I do if I lose my identity document?

If you have lost your identity card or document, you must show up at the airport with the report to the authorities and any valid document that has a photo.

1. What is airport tax?

Airport tax is the amount charged by the airport administration, corresponding to the amount to be paid by each passenger for using the airport facilities, and varies according to each airport.

13. Travel Assistance

1. Why is a protection and assistance program required when traveling?

Traveling within the country or abroad always involves risks and no one knows what might occur when planning a trip; you might be exposed to unexpected and significant expenses.  A Travel Insurance Assistant gives you peace of mind to travel and protects you in case you and/or your companions have to face unexpected extra costs. This service does not apply for flights to/from the United States

2. Where can I buy the Travel Assistance Program?

You can buy it when purchasing your reservation through the web page or call center, or add it later, up to 4 hours before the flight departure, through the same channels. 

3. In which countries does the Travel Assistance Program coverage may be used?

The Travel Assistance Program provides coverage in all VivaColombia destinations, both national and international.

4. When is the Travel Assistance Program coverage activated?
